It is vital that Ground Source Heating looms are installed in straight lengths and in individual trenches, which ensures the cold output pipework is kept away from heated glycol in the return pipework. Clews & Co’s Trenching Wheel efficiently lays Ground Source Heating pipe at a depth of 1 meter with minimal disruption to the clients land. Each pipe in one loop has its own trench meaning hot and cold pipes a separated with virgin undisturbed soil, maximising the use of natural insulation in the soil. Such an installation is proven to be much more superior in output and heat loss versus the opposing installation of a “Slinky” system. Although slinky systems require less land space, they are more susceptible to huge heat loss as all the hot and cold pipes are so close. This means they counter act each other thus achieving a lower heat uptake from the ground.
